Never meant to be

I think I,d better face it, it was never meant to be.
Strangers passing in the night like ships far out at sea.
Could it be I dreamt it? Was it all inside my head?
Did I read some meaning in your eyes? Those things we never said.
Could it be my imagination, or maybe something more?
Chances are I,ll never know, never know for sure.
