When you meet someone new, someone you think is cute, make them feel they are important, look at them in the eyes and smile a little. Stand next to them, but at a 45 degree angle. This will make them feel more secure and less threatened, in case they feel uncomfortable speaking with strangers. What you want is to get to know them by asking questions about themselves, taking the attention away from you. But never be too indiscrete and please do not pry. This is important, because it will help make them trust you and want to talk to you more.
